Oh if only! But no...Tonight I am trying to make pretty sewn covers for folders that will go in my guest rooms and be filled with 'lots of useful information' I confess I am that sort of girl. So, I gathered together lots of scraps of fabrics and then scratched my head because although I have made a 'pretty folder cover' before I realised I had forgotten my process...I last made one for a Christmas present...so not that long ago really and I do remember that I was happy with it...So...And sitting on a pile of fabric scraps...I thought I would look back over my old photos to see my 'process'...Damn I don't think I photographed it...But what I did find was a couple of photos of some 'before' furniture, this was some stuff I was given and decided to repair, repaint and reuse for my third room...It was just too weary and brown as it was:
I bought all new bolts for the top bed and spent a goodly while washing down every piece with washing soda. For me it is always better to paint something that is dismantled and then remake if possible, It gives a much better finish. I really enjoy painting furniture but I really don't enjoy preparing furniture to paint...
I think it looks rather lovely! Now I need to stop sitting on the pile of scraps of fabric and remember how to make a pretty folder cover...
